VC vs Indie
Some exciting news from the Indie World. This week's article features Pieter Levels, Indie Hackers, Feedhive, and more...
Does the Indie community need to keep shitting on VC startups?
If you are part of the indie hacker community, you most likely know about Pieter Levels. He is definitely one of the biggest inspirations for many indie makers, including myself. However, last week he received massive criticism for one of his tweets.
Whether you like venture capitalists or not, you have to agree that this wasn't one of the best takes. Not only are the numbers massively exaggerated, but takes like these represent a one-sided opinion.
I don't want to delve too deeply into this, but the fact that I'm writing this on Notion and sending it to you through Substack makes me appreciate the hard work these startups have done. I'm not sure if they could have accomplished this in such a short time without raising external funds.
In the end, every entrepreneur wants to do what’s best for their business and how they want to run their company.
Do IndieHackers shadow-bans without a valid reason?
Yesterday, Kamphey shared an interesting story about how he believes he's been shadowbanned from Indiehackers.com by comparing the engagement to an article. Which was posted on both Reddit and IndieHackers.
Now I know Reddit and Indiehackers probably can’t be directly compared, but if it’s a good post, it should at least get some decent engagement right? And based on the replies of others, it seems that many of them have had similar experiences.
Did you also have such an experience? I know I did.
Twitter banned FeedHive!!
FeedHive, A social media scheduling startup by Simon Hoiberg was blocked by Twitter this week! This is like a nightmare for such companies since it blocked all FeedHive’s user post schedules. The worst part, Twitter didn’t even specify why they are blocking the account.
But the good news is, the account was restored a day later! 🎉
Simon did a great job documenting the whole thing on a Twitter thread, that’s definitely worth checking out.
🔥 Hackers Hacking
Zawwad Ul Sami, a fellow indie hacker just Quizzbot. Quizzbot helps you to generate custom quizzes in seconds. Like give it any paragraphs of text, and it will auto-generate quizzes for you. Sounds like a very cool product for teachers.
Projection Lab just reached 1,000 customers!! Congratulations to Kyle Knolan for reaching such a milestone!! 🎉
Alessio Mattera launched his startup livelogue. If you were looking for a Gumroad alternative, then Livelouge is definitely worth checking out.
